The 44th SABEW Annual Conference will be held at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, California. To attend the conference, Register Online or Download PDF Form to mail or fax to SABEW.
All rooms in the SABEW room block at the Disneyland Hotel are taken. A SABEW room block has been reserved for 45 rooms at the Hotel Menage, 1221 S. Harbor Blvd., in the city of Anaheim. Their website is http://www.hotelmenage.com. Room rates are $149 for a single king or double queen room, plus applicable taxes. To make a reservation, call 1-888-462-7275 or 1-714-758-0900. The website indicates it is within walking distance of Disneyland.

 | One centerpiece of the conference will be a town hall-like meeting that will set the stage for revisions to SABEW's ethical guidelines for its members. And, of course, SABEW will honor our Best In Business contest winners at the Orange County event.

Editors attending will gain hands-on tips on everything from creating award-winning work from small staffs to boosting coverage of small business to dealing with multimedia demands of the modern newsroom. Reporters will, among other things, get the opportunity to see how Census data can boost the authority of their coverage and learn interviewing tips from an FBI expert.
The conference will also offer a chance to see how America's West Coast influences the globe. Of course, there will be Hollywood discussions. Plus, panel talks about how So Cal designers are changing everything from athletic gear to automobiles.
Dress Guidelines
With the exception of the annual banquet, we are declaring the annual conference a "business casual" event. We want you to be comfortable, but not so casual that the visiting CEOs think we're a bunch of slobs. So take a step up from the jeans and running shoes, but don't worry about wearing a tie or the full business armor for the daily sessions. We do dress up a little more for the annual banquet. Business suits and ties are appropriate for men, and dressy business attire for women.
Weather
The weather in Anaheim during the month of May averages at a high of 76°F and a low of 48°F. Daily averages are available up to one month before the conference, and more accurate forecasts are available up to ten days before the conference on www.weather.com.

Want a head start on business journalism’s future?
A free daylong workshop on “The New Business Section: From blogs to HTML to ‘round-the-clock deadlines” will be held by the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism on Saturday, May 19, at the Disney Hotel in Anaheim.
The workshop, which precedes the annual conference of the Society of American Business Editors & Writers (SABEW) that begins the following day, is open to the first 25 who register on the www.businessjournalism.org site. Only those who also register for the SABEW conference may attend this free daylong workshop. Click here to register for the free workshop.
The workshop, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will cover the ins and outs of using multiple news platforms, blogging, technical considerations of Web publishing and how to mobilize business staff to meet deadlines every minute.
